Q: Where can I find the short name for an application?
A: Here are a few suggestions:
1 Any application (.exe) in the directory where Windows is installed and in the system subfolder of this directory can be invoked by using the application name without the .exe extension.
2 Also, check in the registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
You can access the registry by entering regedit in the Start Menu > Run > Open text box.
3 Otherwise, I recommend trial and error. Try entering the name of the application without the .exe extension into the Start Menu > Run > Open text box and see what happens.
